Meet Scott Patles-Richardson

Scott Patles-Richardson is a nationally recognized First Nation executive leader with a 25-year track record of driving economic growth, investment readiness, and strategic capacity building for Indigenous communities across Canada. A seasoned negotiator, investor, and corporate strategist, Scott has negotiated major capital transactions, and transformative partnerships that have advanced Indigenous ownership and participation in high-value sectors including energy, infrastructure, financial services, and M&A.

Scott has negotiated and secured numerous settlements, commercial agreements, and major joint ventures for Indigenous nations, advancing billions of dollars in value creation. He has also guided Indigenous communities and investors through complex M&A transactions that have strengthened long-term revenue streams, increased equity positions, and accelerated economic sovereignty. Through his family office, Scott actively invests in a broadly diversified portfolio of Indigenous-aligned companies in Language Services, Construction, Commercial Real Estate tech, to name a few. Scott has established an institutional private equity fund to magnify the impact to scale growth capital for Indigenous SMEs.

A proven CEO, Scott has founded, grown, and advised companies at every stage—including turning around distressed companies and scaling them into competitive, profitable enterprises. This includes the acquisition and restructuring of MKTG, which he stabilized from insolvency to profitability in six months, repositioning it as Nations Translation Group. By bringing in a First Nation community investor, it is now wholly Indigenous-owned, Canada’s largest privately held translation firms, and has ranked on the Global 100 list by size for two consecutive years while preparing to launch an AI-enabled solution to global markets.

Scott is the Founder of Indigenous Financial Solutions, where he advises First Nations, corporations, and governments on strategic planning, governance, economic development, capital structuring, and major project negotiations. He is widely sought after for his expertise in access-to-capital strategies, impact benefit agreements, corporate structuring, and large-scale infrastructure transactions.

As CEO of Infinity Investments, a private equity firm owned by Infinity Trust, Scott led the acquisition and restructuring of multiple investment companies, negotiated a first-of-its-kind $700M joint-venture fee syndication with a chartered bank, and restructured an 18MW Indigenous solar portfolio valued at $90M. Most recently, he played a central role in structuring over $1.5B in Indigenous-led battery storage projects under the IESO’s LT1 2023 procurement.

Throughout his career, Scott has collaborated with Indigenous leadership, acted as CEO for former National Chief Phil Fontaine, and has advised senior executives across major sectors. He led Indigenous engagement for the $12B Energy East Project, contributed to the Ring of Fire development strategy, and played a pivotal community role in Ontario’s Feed-In Tariff Program—supporting dozens of Indigenous joint ventures.

Scott is an active board director and advisory committee member for organizations across the private, public, and regulatory landscape. He currently serves on the Indigenous Advisory Committee for the Canada Energy Regulator and on the Boards of PwC Canada, SOAR Professional Services, and the Indigenous Growth Fund, among others.

Scott holds a BA from the University of Manitoba, is a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP), and is a proud Mi’gmaw citizen of Pabineau First Nation.
